Madisonians Win Major Book Awards

We are excited to announce that two Madisonians have won major book awards this year.

Kevin Weddle and his book The Compleat Victory

Kevin J. Weddle, 2018-19 Garwood Visiting Professor with the Madison Program, has won the 2021 winner of the Gilder Lehrman Prize for Military History, for his book: The Compleat Victory: Saratoga and the American Revolution. This prize is awarded by the New York Historical Society, co-sponsored with the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History, and comes with a $50,000 honorarium. It honors the best English-language book on the subject of military history.

Andrew Porwancher and his book The Jewish World of Alexander Hamilton

Andrew Porwancher, Spring 2018 Garwood Visiting Fellow with the Madison Program, has won the 2021 Journal of the American Revolution Book-of-the-Year Award for his book: The Jewish World of Alexander Hamilton. This award honors the best nonfiction book on the Revolutionary and Founding eras, and has been awarded since 2014 by the Journal of the American Revolution to the book which best delivers engaging, creative, and intelligent content which makes the American Revolution accessible to a broad audience.
