Garwood Visiting Professor Allen C. Guelzo Wins Prestigious Bradley Prize

Congratulations to James Madison Program 2017-18 Garwood Visiting Professor, Allen C. Guelzo, Director of Civil War Era Studies and the Henry R. Luce Professor of the Civil War Era at Gettysburg College. Professor Guelzo is one of three recipients of the 2018 Bradley Prizes.

The honor recognizes individuals of extraordinary talent, whose accomplishments reflect The Lynde and Harry Bradley Foundation's mission to restore, strengthen and protect the principles and institutions of American exceptionalism. Professor Guelzo will receive the award at the 15th annual Bradley Prizes ceremony on Tuesday, May 15th, 2018 at the National Building Museum in Washington, D.C.

"Dr. Allen Guelzo is one of the country’s preeminent Civil War era historians and a leading authority on President Lincoln,” said Richard Graber, President and CEO of the Bradley Foundation. “His contributions have shaped important debate, thought and research on one of the most critical periods of American history. The Bradley Foundation is proud to award a Bradley Prize to Dr. Guelzo, a scholar who has served his field with great distinction.”

This year's award winners were chosen by the Bradley Prizes Selection Committee, a group of notable leaders in various fields, after careful review of nearly 200 nominations. Each award carries a stipend of $250,000.
