Adam Thomas is Assistant Director of the James Madison Program in American Ideals and Institutions.

His teaching and research are concerned with the history of political philosophy and American political thought. In particular, he studies the foundations of law, justice, and constitutionalism in Cicero, Augustine, and Thomas Aquinas.

From 2019-2024, Thomas was Associate Director of the Lyceum Program at Clemson University. He previously held appointments as Postdoctoral Research Associate in the James Madison Program at Princeton and T. W. Smith Postdoctoral Fellow in Western and American Political Thought in the Tocqueville Program at Furman University. He received his Ph.D. in Political Science from Boston College and his B.A. from Furman University.
